Here's what's buzzing around. Zack Snyder is directing, Henry Cavill is Superman and Amy Adams is Lois Lane. Kevin Costner and Diane Lane are the Kents. David S. Goyer is writing the script and in early interviews said the story would not recap the origin but would involve Lex Luthor and Brainiac. What are your thoughts on this?

I personally can't stand superman. He's just too simplistic for me. I want a hero with personality, one that has real character flaws, not one where his only weakness is some random mineral.
I'm sure I'll go see this because I see everything, but I probably won't enjoy it.

I hope it works out, but I have my doubts. The idea of Brainiac is a positive. I question the origin omission simply because I'm not sure how many young folks know the story of Superman these days (personally, I'm fine with it; I'm just saying...). It could be addressed in a quick flashback.

Maybe the problem is that this is too studio driven. When Batman was languishing what it needed was a visionary director to reboot it, but these people are so desperate to get Superman up and running they're just throwing stuff out there that they're thinking will be cool. Reboot, reboot!

I think Zack Snyder could be a good pick. He's good visually with comic book movies, but I haven't seen anything that tells me he gets Superman. I fully support omitting the origin, because anyone who doesn't know where Superman comes from totally doesn't care. I support the reboot but I liked Brandon Routh. I'm afraid that failure will prompt them to make Superman edgier, which would suck. I also liked Tom Welling for the part too; I really like Smallville.

I like Smallville too. The thing about Superman is his origin doesn't matter like it does for other heroes. Batman's backstory is a huge part of Batman, but Superman's just a big old Alien, doesn't need a whole movie to explain that.

I guess nobody's gonna be happy until Zod comes back to the big screen. Looks like the movie's headed in the right direction. I'd still rather see Brainiac, who has never been done on the big screen. But this is a safety film; go back to whatever has worked and cram it full of action.

Could be a real big movie. I recently re-watched the original Christopher Reeve movie and I was really taken with the scope of it. Might not seem like much now, but at the time it was an epic adaptation. In that respect this movie might turn out to be a greater homage to that film than Superman Returns.

Russell Crowe? What sort of movie are they making here? Mph, I'll trust that it's Zach Snyder, but I gotta point out my friends that Russell Crowe is technically from New Zealand... at least that's what we realised as soon as he started throwing phones around.

Throwing phones is all it takes to be disowned as an Ozzie? Surprised there's any of you left.

It's not the throwing, it's the way you do it.
