It's not out for a year, isn't it a little soon for this?

It's not out for a year, isn't it a little soon for this? It's just a teaser trailer. If you notice, there is really very little new footage in it. It is designed to build your expectations.

I did notice there wasn't much new in it, I just think that my expectations can be built too soon and it's a long time to try to be excited for. Then again Ben's been excited about The Hobbit coming out for 10 years and he's still looking at the One Ring website every day!

Yes, for sure. Apparently it's very funny, especially the Christopher Lee cameo.

This is the last Chris Nolan one anyway. And as to Catwoman, where have you been? They've cast Anne Hathaway... but as Selina Gomez so Gilbert thinks she won't be catwoman too but why else put her in there?

Selina Kyle. I'm not saying she won't be in costume at all, but I think it's telling that all the press statements have referred to the character by that name and not as Catwoman. Right now they've got Bane and it's rumored that R'as Al Ghul and his daughter will be in this movie. Where is there room for Catwoman? They need to avoid the Spider-man 3 pitfall of chucking in everyone they haven't got a chance to use yet.
From what they're saying it sounds like the franchise will reboot somewhat once Nolan's gone, but I don't think it will be a full story reboot. I think they're looking to re-position to tie Batman into a larger DC movie universe, something Nolan had no interest in doing.

Agreed, but part of the reason that the last Spiderman was so bad was the producers wanted the movie to focus on Venom but Sam Raimi hated that and wanted more of Sandman.

The 3rd movie always brings out this need to be an epic finale. Spidey 3 had 2 villains and 2 stories, X Men 3 had 2 completely different stories about 2 different villains, and Dark Knight Rises seems to be piling on characters.
Why don't these guys just make more movies if they've got so much story to work in? X3 could have done their cure storyline and led into an awesome Dark Phoenix arc in X4. Spidey 3 could have introduced the new suit while focusing on Sandman, then brought in Venom for Spidey 4. Then Raimi and the studio wouldn't have split on which villain to use and we wouldn't have to reboot at all. These things aren't trilogies! Why does everyone act like the 3rd movie is some kind of endgame?

As Luna mentioned, Venom was shoehorned into SM3. If Raimi had his way, Venom may have never been in any of his films. He referred to Venom not of his generation, and therefor, unrelate-able to him.
As for X3, I agree 100%. They F-ed up the whole Dark Phoenix story. I'd guess that the reason why is that they could not maintain that cast any further. As a fan, I would have liked to have seen Apocalypse, The Sentinels, The Marauders... Instead, we get parts 2 and 3 with completely forgettable villains and weak stories.
