I think Conan learned that "no" means "switch positions". Not a Helen Keller wa-wa moment, but perhaps it's progress.

I just want to point out that while there's no less boobies in the show right now (last week had a whole lesbian sex-scene for no reason in the background while a character explained his whole motivation in a long dramatic speech. So weird) but it is coming around quickly to being the most junk I've seen in a show for ages. I mean, this last episode this kid was sitting near this tree and for no reason whatsoever this naked guy just runs out and says hello. They laugh and tell him to go dress and he runs off, they continue the scene as if nothing had happened. It's like the writers were sitting around saying "How can we introduce the idea of giants? Well we haven't had a naked guy yet this episode..."

They came close to showing some boobs when that creepy little prince punk tried to nurse.

They came close to showing some boobs when that creepy little prince punk tried to nurse. It's a good way of showing that something is a little wrong in this household. Reminds me of Little Britain actually.

I realize that they are showing us that there is too much chlorine in that gene pool. Just knowing that the show whips out the girly bits on a whim; having that kid reach up and ask for supper was way off-putting.
Not as bad as when Lafayette is alone with any dude in True Blood, or when Vito is caught polishing the nob in the parking lot (Sopranos); but still disturbing.

I don't know. I love HBO, but Game of Thrones feels like they write a straightforward scene then run it by an executive with a goldfish attention span for approval. "This monologue is boring; let's throw in some chicks making out", "you know what would make this scene better? A naked albino retard"... The formula is fun, but it undermines the story.

I agree. It's really difficult to concentrate on the manifesto with the swinging boobies in the background. And it was just too bizarre to keep watching after the nude albino, and how cavalier they were about it. Isn't it meant to be cold up there? Anyone else seen the Top Gear Polar Special and note the effects of leaving your schlong out in the cold? Not good at all!

That's it. I haven't read the books, but I'm getting the impression the source material is too sophisticated for them. The Sookie books are just romance novels with monsters in them, so throwing in endless nudity and gore can only make it better. But Thrones is sort of a cerebral cat and mouse thriller, so throwing in mindless nudity and sex seems out of place.
Don't get me wrong; I like the mindless nudity and sex, but it's more conspicuous in a show where the story is so complex and well thought out.

So; aside from the conspicuous nudity scene with the old man gassing on while the whore stood around naked in the background, what did everyone think of the finale? Especially the cute little baby dragons? I thought they were awesome! It really felt like more of a setup for the next series than a final episode, no stories were finished but a lot came to certain climactic points. It was more of a beginning of journeys to come than an ending. But I liked it, I liked seeing where everyone had come to and where they were headed. Very interesting. And dragons!!!

The dragons were awesome. I was holding out some hope that Ka Drogo would come back to life or something.

I would have liked more of a cliff hanger, but that is just what I'm used to from so many other shows. I think once I get used to the idea, I will appreciate this ending much more. Especially when season 2 starts and I can see where the story actually goes. Still can't get over the finale of the previous episode. Wasn't expecting Stark to be killed off so unceremoniously. Again, I think this is something I will appreciate more when the whole story is presented to me. The dragons were cool. I like how they left the nature of dragons somewhat ambiguous throughout the show up until the finale. The development of her character was in overdrive this season. I expect to see her kick some serious ass next year.

The dragon lady was certainly the character with the best arc this first season. The only thing that I wanted more of was the supernatural element. I wanted a little more interesting scary stuff to happen up at the wall, but I guess there's a load of stuff there to squeeze in. Like the unhappy ending of Ned Stark's story. I too thought there'd be a little more to it; after all if his mother's regent surely she could have stopped it. They strung it out for so long then bam. I hoped Kal Drogo would wake up but after all those bleak things going on around I didn't really expect it. I liked that they didn't overdramatise the dragon moment with lens flares or anything. Also I liked the coldness with which she dealt with the witch lady.

There is sort of a mortal element to her arc too. They're made to suffer because they're all about mindlessly raping and killing. But is there a catharsis for her or is she just learning to be ruthless? I still hope the boy king's on the throne when these characters show up.

I can't wait for Joffrey to get his ass handed to him.
