Ben has been talking about nothing but this upcoming HBO show all weekend, but I hadn't heard a thing about it. It looks good, from the teasers I've seen. Anyone else interested in it? Anyone going to watch it for me and tell me whether or not I should bother downloading it? (Since it's not going to be on free tv here at all)

Just watched the first episode. I am going in knowing nothing about the story. So from my point of view, I found it rather enjoyable and interesting. They introduce a few topics that suggest a fantasy element to the story, but they intentionally keep the true nature ambiguous (thus far). The writer of the original material claims that this story is a faithful adaptation.
I recommend giving it a shot.

HBO knows how to punch up an ending. They also know how to bring in the nudity and the depraved sex. Great people. I love Sean Bean and could not be happier to see him in a series. Peter Dinklage is always great and he's finally getting a part that will prove it. Lena Headey is going to be wicked, I think. HBO doing a fantasy show; that's a marriage made in Heaven.
Dude who plays Conan is in it too. That guy is scary in mascara. "No need to cry, woman. I make barbarian sex to you now." Klingon romance.

He does remind one of a Klingon. I think he'll make a good Conan, he's certainly got the presence to prove it. HBO is so hinky, what with all the boobs and the whores and the street sex then that ending... though I wasn't terribly surprised because really, what did you expect? Also, why are twincestors always murderers? But I do agree it was a great shock ending after a fairly good but introductory episode. I love all the characters and it's been really well cast. I can't wait to watch Conan teach that weird Blond man some lessons, because I can really see that happening. I like how they lead us through a whole scene wondering what his relationship is with the white blond girl, including him undressing her and grabbing her boobs, then he calls her sister. Nice. |

Oh yeah, sister's gonna sex Conan up and then politely suggest he twist her brother's head off. That's my prediction. She's also learning that crying is apparently considered foreplay amongst his people. They think murder is romantic, you know?

As predicted, in ep 2 she starts learning the sacred art of missile twisting so she can sex Conan into doing her bidding. And who's the only idiot no one needs? The douchebag who thinks they'll conquer the kingdom and hand him the throne.

That scene would have been so much sweeter if he hadn't been quite happy to rape her when she said no at the beginning of it.

I find it rather "interesting" that all of "Conan's" character development has been centered on his sexual practices.
This week, "Conan" learns that the word "no" is not foreplay.
