Andrew is reading the second book while I'm just finishing up the first, but we're both pretty adamant about taking in the story from the TV show first, which is kind of a challenge with all this information out there. So far we've managed to avoid spoilers.

Ok. Ya- I've been going back and listening to the older Tv on the Throne podcasts. These are fun! UGH! It's SOOO frustrating AND fun to listen to yall's theories about whats going to go down. I read the series a while back. The show is still CRAZY fun. Having read the books hasn't diminished the series at all! Its just such a good story. That's what you guys were talking about in one of your casts when comparing it to Walking Dead, I think. You were lamenting the lack of real story telling in modern television. Agreed. I'd love to read the series again- they need to put out an abridged version with just all the descriptions of food cut out. That would cut the whole series down by half. I'll admit, Jon and I kinda gleefully cackle any time we listen to the podcast and you guys postulate about what's happening in the future. "Oh, if only they knew...."

That's what makes it hard for Lynn when she's on with us, because she knows what's coming. She doesn't give anything away, but it must be frustrating for her to be on a different plane. Andrew and I have fun in our little bubble because we're both equally ignorant. I also think it's more fun to make the show accessible to people who haven't read the books yet.
That's going to be the problem when we go back and do earlier episodes, because it won't be the same. They'll be more retrospective because we'll know how that particular storyline will turn out.
I figure at the rate the TV show and the books are going, we should all be on the same page in about four years.

Lynn is great. I don't know HOW she does this! ITS KILLING ME!!!! LOL! I'm just hoping the books outpace the series, although I've read assurances from Martin that they will... I'm sure that if you guys went back and did shows about the first two seasons, they would be just as entertaining! Obviously, they would focus on what you KNEW they were leading towards rather than what you thought or guessed was going to happen, but your insights would be no less interesting. So don't not do those shows for that reason! God- I hate surprises. Even OTHER PEOPLE'S surprises. I'm HELL around Christmas time!

I really want to jump into the first season now that I'm done with the book, because I'm a little better informed. When we first started doing the show I didn't know the character names, so I've come a long way.
