If you ever wondered what it would take to bring Brooks out of retirement, this is it. Sean, Brooks, Greg and Andrew convene for an emergency session of TVAMD to talk about the Earth-shattering announcement that Disney purchased Star Wars. What does it mean? Who would direct Episode VII? How do we get Nathan Fillion in it? Part 1 just barely scratches the surface, folks... Episode 169

Woo hoo, Brooks and Andrew! Lovely to hear the band back together again. And the Vron outro. (Never thought I'd hear "C3PO" and "hot" in the same sentence. Seems so obvious now ...)
re: Nathan Fillion though. Sigh. I'm sorry, I love the guy, but I think he himself is approaching the "getting too old for this shit" stage. After enjoying him in Castle for what... five years? now.. maybe too much like Sam Axe trying to play Ash ... their acting skills have improved but they also physically mature along with the rest of us. It's getting to feel too much like trying to recapture our OWN youth.
Apropos, did you see the recent "Galaxy Quest" episode of Castle? Yeah. Like that.
Waiting patiently for part 2. Thank you for doing these!!

I think Fillion's still got some juice in him. But it would almost be too much. I want them to be Star Wars, not recycle other nerdy things in a big mash-up. As long as they're good, I don't really care what they do.

This episode of TVAMD most totally should have been subtitled, "A New New Hope". Take one from the master and go back and change it post-release. Anakin Solo didn't turn to the dark side. His brother, Jacen was the one who turned. Brooks - Awesome to hear you on the show once again.

I guess I didn't get that far into the expanded universe. I'm so excited about Star Wars right now I might just catch up on that stuff too.

I never went that far, either. I have a buddy who has read them all. He would keep me informed. He also loved the trilogy of stories that Joss Weddon apparently wanted to film. His judgment is somewhat suspect though. He is the same buddy that I mentioned before - the one who saw Titanic WAY too many times. With that said, the story does take place in the perfect timeline for our aged actors: ~30 years after RotJ.

I'm going to start listening to the original radio drama and work my way through the Zahn books and other audios. I've been looking for a reason to care about Star Wars again. I better go with this now before Disney ruins it for me.
