I saw that. It's going to be impossible to watch it without thinking of Cabin in the Woods, but the hard-core direction they appear to have taken it in adds something new here. Looks like there's a girl chopping her arm off there, that looks good. I never liked how in the original all three girls just roll over for molesty tree demons immediately. Or pretty quickly. At least they're trying to do something with it, so that's good.

I'll watch it. But I'm not sold.

I'm glad to see that it is not trying to be a straight up remake of the originals. Casting a female as the Ash character will help. I'm hoping that it delivers the creep factor that the original two had. It is, however, going to be hard to get past the overwhelming CGI.

I agree about the cg Gary, part of the charm of the original was the almost cartoonish realism of the makeup and effects.

How about the camp appeal of the first one? It's a neat mix of camp and actual scary. This new one looks like it's all scary with no fun. It doesn't look to me like a fun movie to see, though it does look plenty frightening.

I would agree with that Brooks. But independant of it being a remake it looks remarkably hard-core and potentially awesome for that. But no, not campy fun. But we didn't get to see much of the character of the participants, if you've got a good funny writer in there you can make the characters.... bleh, I just lost interest in that sentence half-way through. I agree Brooks. I'll probably still watch it though.

I'll watch it, but if it's just "hard core" scary with no fun story or characters I'll be disappointed. I'm not happy with the new trend in horror movies of seeing boring people being eviscerated. I like to see interesting people get eviscerated. That's just how I am.
