This is kind of amateur feeling and awkwardly paced for a documentary, but it's unnecessarily comprehensive if you're interested in the Mothman and want to hear everything there is to know about it.
One of the weirder monster stories, so if you want to hear all about it this is a good one to watch. Somehow, I think "The Mothman Prophecies" failed to cover it. Probably because the director that the idea of the Mothman was stupid. So why did he make a Mothman movie?

I dig the mothman. I'd like to see more on the creature but I don't think it has the same appeal as the bigfoot. I'll have to track this one down.

It's too localized. Everybody has a bigfoot myth, but the mothman is so specific to that place. That to me makes it great fodder for a movie because it's a monster story with a weird alien conspiracy for no reason. But when they made that Richard Gere movie the director thought mothman was dumb so he didn't want the mothman in the movie. Even though it's called The Mothman Prophecies. I guess it helped, since it got people interested in the actual story which is way cooler than that stupid movie.

That movie did focus more on the prophecy aspect of the creature than the creature itself. I'd like to see a film cover the creature more. It's been a while, but I need to look more into the stories of the mothman. I don't recall if he ever directly attacks folks or not. In part, I remember a story of a Wasp Man that I read as a kid and may be mixing the two in my head.
Also go to give a shout out to the Jersey Devil. I'm an hour away from the Jersey Pine Barrens, his stomping grounds.

The early mothman stories are basically people being chased around, usually from the TNT plant where it lived. Then it started taking on weirder layers and became a UFO story too. Then I think they retroactively created that prophecy angle after the bridge collapse. I haven't heard any stories of people predicting the bridge would collapse because of the mothman.

I think it feeds into the "angel" aspect that some of the Point Pleasant folks brought up. I haven't made it all the way through this one yet (2.5 hours, wow!), but I base the thought on other shows I've seen. I remember other shows say that the mothman was often seen before disasters.

That became part of the mythos, but it seems like they only started saying that after the bridge thing. It's a long one, no doubt. The guy goes into an unnecessary amount of detail.
