Sean, Lynn, Gary and Greg take a few minutes to speculate about the upcoming Hobbit movies, then a lot more minutes talking about other stuff. There's some Dolph Lundgren breaking news, even spottier speculation about the new Highlander remake, sports and Candy. And a little VRON for good measure. Episode 161

Burdick pointed out on Facebook that Stephen J. Cannell's been dead for, like, 2 years. So my Nathan Fillion story was a little dated. That's how we break a story on this show, folks...

The Dolph news was pretty fresh though ;D

We check our Dolph facts carefully. In all other categories I use the show to keep myself informed through a strict regimen of saying random things and waiting to be corrected. Sort of like how my dog has developed an airtight system of walking into things to make sure they're there.

Funny, that's how I met my wife. Randomly kept running into her.

I support the righteous randomness of things. I kind of have to at this point.

Lol Ruud. That's how Ben thinks he and I met. Randomly.

Football is one of the few sports where if I had a kid, I'd refuse to let him play it. I understand that for many of the players it's their only way "out" but there's gotta be a better way then tearing up your knees and suffering minor concussions during every game.

I support the righteous randomness of things. I kind of have to at this point. And it is fully backed up by the theory of quantum mechanics.

I'm not a full supporter of quantum mechanics because it's celebrated too much as a lazy science, but I do support the random. Einstein argued that God doesn't throw dice, but I think maybe he does. Why would he have made us if the whole thing was set in stone? So if he's cool with it, I guess I am. I like not knowing what'll happen next.

Speaking as a person with a scientific background, quantum mechanics is as "proven" as any scientific theory. Einstein's hesitation in accepting it is generally shared by nearly all students when they start being taught quantum. I think there is an inherent resistance for anyone to leave a world of black and white mathematics and substitute it with probabilities and wave functions. From the outside, I agree that it seems like allot of hocus pocus and hand waving. But the vast majority of it has been scientifically measured and tested.

I don't blame you, Lynn. As much as I like the sport, I'd be afraid to put my kids into it. The concussion issue alone is rather frightening.

Wrong guest host Gary, drivebyluna is Tracy, I go by the more confusing pseudonym of lynn. For the record, if I had kids they could play whatever they liked because when they're unconscious they're quieter. I hear.

Funny thing is I actually was trying to type "Luna". Now I know how poor ol' Greg felt the last show.
