I thought I'd start up a gaming thread, because I've just gotten this computer that can actual work in the last 6 months and have started up playing games again. I want to know what everyone is playing and enjoying.
Let's start with me; Limbo. I got this game in a pack with a bunch of other little games and I've been delieriously in love with it ever since I first started playing. It's just a little platform game, all done in black and white, it's got no fancy flashing graphics or anything, really anything, you just wake up in this shady forest and have to figure it all out from there. But the delicate black and white world they've created is so achingly beautiful, the puzzles are intuitive yet challenging, and the simple gameplay allows you to fully immerse yourself without all the normal distractions that these games sometimes come with. Ben got really involved just watching over my shoulder and started suggesting solutions (which I obviously immediately put a stop to). But I would definately advise that everybody play it, it's one of the best games I've ever played, but I do love my platform games. Just look up a couple of pictures of it online to see what I mean about the graphics, especially look at the giant spiders they have in there, it's terrifying and atmospheric and great. You do die a lot, graphically in some cases, but that's built into the game, you don't have a finite amount of lives and from the trial and error needed to solve the puzzles it's not a worry. It's actually, black though it is to say it, kinda amusing watching the little guy get his head chopped off by a bear trap. That just me? He's like a little puppet, so his head just comes clean off.... may just be me. But have a look people, I hope other people are as enchanted by it as I am.
