Another show about storybook characters in the modern world. This is the Buffy formula, where a chosen one sees monsters no one else sees and has to fight them. It's created by Buffy/Angel alum David Greenwalt, as opposed to ABC's Once Upon a Time, which has Whedon veteran Jane Espenson on the payroll.
The first episode wasn't bad, but it's a procedural monster of the week kind of show.

Fairy tales are coming back in but I haven't seen an awesome fairy on screen forever. Or maybe just ever. Fairies are meant to be scary, so are fairy tales. I like the idea of taking the Grimm angle and making them monsters. Slay them bitches up some, word!

The first 2 episodes are about the big bad wolf and the 3 bears, so they're not really trying very had so far. Once Upon a Time is doing more, but they're hung up on the Disney aesthetic (ABC is owned by Disney, so their "fairy tales" are just plays on Disney's version of the stories).
That's why I didn't like Terry Gilliam's Grimm movie. It was such a great idea for a fun story but it never came together.

Yeah I watched the first episode of this and was a little disappointing. It seems like it's less Grimm's fairy tales and more like Supernatural, only less cool. The monsters are just people with periodic demon face episodes. Fairly standard fair. my favourite bit was the reference to the Grim Reaper being actually a Reaper of Grimm. But other than that I felt that the whole thing looked cheap and was always trying for cheap jump scares where they weren't needed, like just in between scenes for no reason there's a music jump to scare you. Wasn't scary.

Yeah, they haven't done anything special yet. The show is watchable but missable so far.
