I don't want to spend any more air time talking about this season of Dr. Who, but I was more or less pleased with the resolution of this storyline. Partly because I'm happy that story is done with, but I was encouraged that the suggestion seemed to be that they'll be scaling back the epic scope of the stories and go back to a world where everyone doesn't know the Doctor. He's supposed to be a wistful stranger, a traveler, not the center of all events. I think Matt Smith captures the character very well, but the stories have made too big a business of him lately. Hopefully next season will reflect a less conspicuous Doctor and a smaller overall story.

Hpmh, I didn't mind that he was just keeping himself more hidden, that's fine, it's the resolution of the long-standing how does he get out of it thing that annoys me because it felt too basic. Tell me you saw that coming from the beginning of the episode, right?

I have to admit I wasn't paying much attention, but they made it available. It wasn't a cheat as a twist. I was pretty sure I wouldn't care either way. The "fixed point in time" crap is something I don't buy.

I just felt like they made such a big deal out of it then it was nothing. I did like the idea that they made a parallel dimension just for their own wedding. That was kinda awesome. I'm just wondering when the conversation between Amy and River at the end happens, because I thought right after the doctor died they went on more adventures and Amy didn't know about River's identity?

It does seem like River lets Amy twist for a long time for no reason at all.

My problem, and I'm sure i've mentioned it before, is that they kinda gloss over the fact that Amy and Rory lose out on the experience of raising a child. If it were me I would feel incredibly angry and bitter at having my child taken away, and then given back when she's already an adult. They kind of explain it away by saying that Rory and Amy's friend was River all along but one of the things I always hear from parents about the joys of parenting is watching your children learn something that you already know. An easy example is crawling/walking, but I've heard stuff even more complicated like reading or doing simple arithmetic is amazing to watch. When you're the same age as that child and learning the same tasks as them, that appreciation gets lost. Not to mention that the relationship between child and parent and friends can never be the same. Or so I'm told.

I agree, the doctor just rushes off saying everything is going to be ok and he'll find her baby but in the end he doesn't find River until she finds him, with a gun to his face. Epic Fail Doctor.

Which bit, Doctor rushing off and never finding River or the big reveal of who River was? Cos we figured out who River was forever ago.

Oh, sorry, didn't know there were ghosts on the forum. Just read back over the thread and realised it was just parroting something I'd already said.
