Is it me, or are DC's characters wearing a lot of metal in the relaunch? Why is Superman wearing armor? And why is everyone wearing metal boots? Apparently in the relaunch the Earth begins losing mass and they have to fight a threat to universal gravitation. It's a sad day when Aquaman is leading the charge for wardrobe conservatism. He's the only one not wearing weighted boots and he's the only one who lives underwater, where you might actually need them.  |

Listen Gilbert, if you had to kick as many bad-guy asses as these guys I reckon you'd get metal toed boots too. Now shut up with the criticism of the superheroes wardrobe, Jesus, it's not like they don't have enough flack to cop over things like saving the earth and crap that matters without you picking on their freaking shoes! Their SHOES Gilbert! This isn't an episode of Project Runway, it's a comic book.

They're just so shiny. I blame Jim Lee. He somehow thinks wearing metal makes you look futuristic.
And wardrobe's a very important part of a superhero's identity. With the exception of Batman they could just be running around in a T shirt and jeans or a track suit if clothes weren't a factor. They started this, not me.

You should be shouting about their heel height or the fact that Wonder Woman is wearing pants, not that they've shinied their shoes that don't look that metal to me anyway. The point of a costume is just to let everyone know you're a superhero, to strike fear and awe and shiny does that quite well.
Wait why is Wonder Woman wearing a codpiece almost as big as the boys? What are they trying to say?

We've covered the Wonder Woman angle. Her classic look is the same as Superman's. But let them be creative, I guess. They'll come back to their roots.
