True Blood's back and extra stupid this year! I love it. Sookie ends up in Narnia with her long lost grandfather, only to find out that 5 minutes in fairyland equals about a year down in Bon Temps. What a great way to skip out on the inane cliffhangers of last season. If you love the idiotic soap opera that True Blood has become, they're not looking to disappoint.

Become? It's gotten worse? I watched the first episode and part of the 2nd before I had to walk out of the room. My wife loves this show, but it's too much for me. The bad southern accents alone were enough to chase me away.

I felt that way at first, but its innate stupidity grows on you after a while.

Instead of a guilty pleasure, it's sort of a shameful pastime for me. I keep watching because it is an HBO show, but the hardcore horror fan side of me seriously wants to kick me in the jewels for not getting away from it.  Every once in a while there are little nuggets that I find compelling (like the insinuation that vampires were responsible for the Inquisition). But then they quickly do something else to induce the long sigh/eye-roll response (like show two guys invalidating themselves from ever being able to donate blood). |

When I heard about this show, I hoped it would be what Walking Dead turned out to be (way after the fact, of course). My wife can't seem to resist its shlocky, soap opera-ness. However, she won't watch Human Centipede with me!
On that note, she actually got mad that "we even have that damned movie in our house". I feel the same way about her 1970's John Travolta CD, by the way.
