I think this might have hurt his credibility a little bit. I loved his bit at the bush press dinner, but this is an actual congressional hearing. Not sure why they called him to testify anyways, but he should've been real I think.

Keeping his character is his credibility. It takes a lot more courage to maintain character in an inappropriate setting than to just go around whining about issues. He uses that persona to make a more important point; and he's not hiding behind a character. Doing a standup act where there's no one there to laugh is a really hard thing to do.
