I haven't seen Shrek 4 which means it doesn't exist. But Shrek the third was truly hideous, and I think one of the areas where it went wrong was not twisting the fairytale enough, because that's what made the first two movies awesome. It just sort of went on blank satire which wasn't that good. So, rather than doing the normal fairytale thing and installing a King perhaps they could have done something modern and fun and install a democracy instead. Have the people vote for their own ruler. That would have made everyone happy. May have made more sense too.
