For those who have ever pondered "Who is tougher: Kirk or Spock?" or whether Harry Potter could beat Neo from The Matrix in a fight, actor Milo Ventimiglia hopes to answer such hypothetical sci-fi, fantasy and pop culture questions with his new project."
Ventimiglia, best known for his TV roles in Heroes and Gilmore Girls, has teamed up with boutique firm Agility Studios to create a new, tongue-in-cheek scripted web series called Ultradome.
The online humour series will feature short-form digital videos that pit two people engaged in a heated pop-culture debate, according to the creative team, who also hope to lure sci-fi fans in the Hollywood community to appear on the show.
"My whole life has been spent engaged with friends in intellectual debate ... like whether Kirk is tougher than Spock or if Middle Earth is a more difficult place to live than Tatooine. With Ultradome, we can bring these debates to the public and settle them in the most logical way possible: through armed combat," Ventimiglia said in a statement.
Ventimiglia stars in and produced the first instalment, entitled "Star Wars vs. Lord of the Rings," which is currently in post-production. He also plans to direct future episodes.
Producers hope to launch the series in summer 2009 and are in talks with major portals for distribution, according to industry paper Hollywood Reporter.
