Anyone get anything awesome in their stockings? Or, in my case, suitcase, my santa sister was quite generous this year. The coolest things she got me, in my opinion, are these set of shower curtains and bathmat. I don't know where she got them from but the back of the packet directed me to www.spinninghat.comShe also got Ben an umbrella that looks like a samurai sword, like this one, www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/japanfan/b625/

Given that I'm 8 months from getting married and am now living 3,000 miles away from home in my first apartment, most of my gifts took on a functional aspect. Fiance got me a camera which is awesome as my old one had died a while ago. Most of my gifts consisted of gift cards which I used to buy a griddle, cast iron skillet and a paper shredder. Exciting I know

Maybe not exciting, but most of the gifts I still have and can actually remember where they came from are the functional ones! And when I get money or a gift card in any appreciable amount, I try to keep track of what I get with it so that even if I don't get around to writing a thank you letter, I can equate it with something tangible. Bought myself a nice watch from my grandma a few years ago!
And I got a dustbuster this year. *grin*

Dustbuster...? I wonder if that's anything like a vacuum cleaner? I got one of those from Ben's mum, and it took me all of about five minutes to break it. Cleaning equipment dislikes me as much as I dislike it.

A dustbuster is a little handheld vacuum. It was all the rave back in the 80's.

I'd probably just break that if I had it too.
