FYI: The new dimension doesn't make the Phantom Menace any better.
That is all.

Did you see it? Is the 3D at all convincing? I'm really curious about how they can pull that off, especially with the original trilogy

I'm torn. On the one hand, yes it is "3D". You can tell that there is a depth to the picture that typically is not there. You notice it and at first, think "well, that's kind of cool...I guess". It goes nowhere though, really. After a while, you don't really think about it.
I was telling Kim after the movie, that it feels there were alot of obvious things that would have happened, but didn't. Explosions sending shrapnel at you. Starships flying out of the screen. Stuff like that, that I expected when I heard about this being done. That stuff doesn't really happen too much. It was kind of weird. As much as he tinkers with these movies, I would have expected him to add things flying at you here and there.
That said, yes it is kind of neat, but the gimmick (just like every other 3D movie I've seen) wears out within the first few minutes. For me, the most important part is that all of the movies are being released, so my kids can finally see them. They were too young to even see Revenge of the Sith, so I'm just happy they have that chance.

Elliot will be around 5 when the OT ones come out, which is around the age I was when I first saw them in theaters back in the olden times, so I'm kind of jazzed about that. Also, I suppose that this may be the last time we'll get to see the star wars movies in theaters, but who knows?

Not interested. But I'll come around for the original trilogy.

Have they ever said which of the 204 versions of the OT that they are converting to 3D. Unless it is one of the originals, I'm skipping them all.

I just assumed it was the blu-ray versions, but they'll probably re-cut them again.
