I like DC's animated movies. They're very well done and in some ways grittier than the live action adaptations. Certainly they're truer to the source material.
My only complaint, as is the case with this movie, is that they tend to run short. This is an excellent adaptation of the Frank Miller mini-series that served partially as the basis for "Batman Begins", but it's only about 64 minutes long.
It's got a great cast, including Eliza Dushku as Catwoman (something I'd like to see in live action) and it follows the story well. The animation and art direction are also high quality. It's a good watch for Batman fans.

They're sometimes a little bit up and down. We've mostly enjoyed these current set that's coming up, but we've come across some that haven't flown, probably made by different people. We found one on Loki and Thor particularly boring.

I don't watch the Marvel ones, so I don't know. They don't look to be the same quality as the DC ones.

No, I don't think Marvel has a concerted effort to make good ones like DC is doing, that being said there's some good wolverine ones.
