Sean and Greg return with Lynn to celebrate Episode 150 of TV Ate My Dinner! While working up to paying tribute to Johnny Drama's, they discuss Varney the Vampire, Sherlock Holmes, Mission Impossible, Top Gear, GI Joe 2, podcast phone etiquette and Greg's deep hatred of the Muppets. Episode 150

So we're starting this one off with Sean singing, eh? Very bold!
I would like to applaud Lynn for managing to be the only one that didn't disappear at some point for something as goofy as a ringing phone. Apparently, she let the cat out at some point, but we never noticed. My hat is off to you, Lynn.
Glad to have you guys back, anyways...even if Greg will never respond to my Facebook posts again.

What I like about that is he just believed that you listened to every episode of the show without noticing he was on it. That seemed plausible to him.
I apologize for the interruptions. It would be really easy for me to edit it out, but it just seems funny. It's like this low hanging lamp in my house that everybody hits their head on. I could move it, it would be easy, but it's just so funny when people hit their heads on it. Tommy gets really mad when he hits his head on it.
I love a running gag.

Yeah, I couldn't recall saying that to you. It seemed highly unlikely I would tell you that (but I say all kinds of crazy shit, so it's hard to keep up sometimes). That Greg accepted it so easily with no expanation made me laugh.
Also, what I said about you and Lynn was that you need a 3rd person that is comfortable enough with you to tell you when you are saying something stupid and vice versa...that's what made it fun when Brooks (who I am aware is too busy with Xbox to join in) was on with you guys. You guys (Greg included) have known each other so long, that you don't feel a need to be nice to each other anymore.
You and Lynn argue sometimes, but its friendly fire. The older episodes featured a bit more of the good ol' breaking of the balls when there was a difference of opinion, which could be funny. You wouldn't have harassed her about "hating the Muppets and Christmas" the way you harassed Greg this episode, for example. That's not your relationship.
I was just saying it provided a bit of entertainment at times to listen to you guys act like asses to one another. That said, she's the only one bringing any stability or class to this operation!

I agree Wilson, the boys are far too nice to me. Believe you me I have tried to my hardest to say something offensive to Sean to make him fire up but he just backs down quietly every time. He's too gentlemanly. I like having a third person there to start the fireworks. I really enjoyed this episode. As for letting the cat out without everyone knowing, I do that sort of thing all the time during shows, I just turn the mic off and wander away. I just don't feel the need to make an announcement about it. I once had an entire house inspection during a show. But it is funnier to leave it in because we tend to give each other shit about it.

Yeah, I enjoyed the episode (maybe a blaxploitation episode?) where Greg answered the phone and music played while he was gone having his conversation.

I think I stopped us in the middle of a show so I could take the dog out to pee.

I did stop us once because the cat was about to vomit and I had to move him off the carpet. Things happen. It's easier when there's three people because the other two can talk, and when Greg and Sean are going it's quite easy to just turn the mic off and go do something else. They usually haven't noticed I've been gone. That's how much they care about hearing my opinion. I do like how disgruntled Sean is in this episode when he gets back and we're talking again about Top Gear. He should be happy to get a break from talking for once.

Oh, I never get tired of talking.
I think Brooks and Greg are hard to replace when it comes to my capacity for animosity. We've known each other forever so I can just say "shut up, you suck" like it's nothing, which I can't do to just anybody. Plus they suck and I want them to shut up, so that makes it easier too.
The cat vomiting was a good break because it was so abrupt. In the old days we used to always cut out the breaking where we'd kill the conversation with stupid stuff, but now the stupid stuff is like a running gag. I started leaving it in to show how much Greg half-asses during recording, but then I actually started to find it funny.
In a lot of ways the show has become a mockery of itself. That's sort of our thing now.

Cos you guys made such an effort to produce a serious program in the beginning. I remember early on I started listening to your show and I thought, "this is funny as hell but I'm not sure what it's meant to be" so I tried to listen to the first episode, hoping for enlightenment, but for some reason that link was broken for ages. Then when you guys finally fixed it I listened to that first episode and... well, you know the rest. There's no enlightenment. You guys just start talking and that's it.

Eventually our search for what the show was became what the show was. That's the best way I can say it. 150 episodes later we still have no idea what we're doing.

Pull-quotes for the front of the box if I ever heard 'em. AND THAT'S WHY WE LOVE YOU!
That and the arguing.
Count me as +1 for "60's and 70's TV" for the next topical, actually-prepared-for episode(s), by the way (if you ever do another after all our clamoring for conflict.) I didn't have TV growing up so everything I've seen has been through re-runs - which make pretty fascinating cultural snapshots - it'd be cool to hear how that might be different for people who watched the first runs.
Anywho. Kudos on an excellent 150th; just the right mix of topics, tangents, discussion, friendly ribbing, cruel zingers, thoughtful commentary, and 80's soundtracks! Oh yeah baby. Keep it coming.

I promise to have the part 2 out soon, where we actually talk about Johnny Dramas. I've been surprisingly busy with real world things like re-flooring my living room and celebrating the awesomeness of post-Christmas activities.
I'm pretty psyched about a 60's/70's episode. I've been watching a lot of Dr. Who lately, including the earlier William Hartnell episodes.
I also like Wilson's idea of a sequel misfires ep (because there's a good list of fun ones we could work with).
I'd like to talk about audio productions too, like the years-long run of Dr. Who BBC radio plays that pretty much kept the franchise going during the long hiatus of no Who on TV (between the Fox movie and the new series). These also gave Paul McGann, the 8th Doctor, the opportunity to have a decent run of adventures that he didn't get on TV. I enjoy them a lot.
