bcove.me/r20p4ocwI have to admit at first I thought this was a bad idea and I'm not sure I like the dark tone of this one but the POV shots are pretty awesome I think

If it were a first pass I'd be on board a little more, but I'm still baffled at the re-telling of the origin. And the dark tone makes it look like the Teen Wolf remake. I'm not sold yet.

He seems like a good kid. Why are all American heroes played by brits now? At least Captain America isn't. That guy'll probably turn out to be Canadian or something.

It doesn't look terribly interesting to me; as you've said they've already done the origin thing I don't see why they need to retell that in a slightly different manner.

God forbid the kids watch a movie as ancient as spiderman. What was that, like ten years ago? c'mon!

I don't mind a style reboot with different actors and a different director, but I'm stuck on the origin thing. Three characters whose origins never have to be explained in a movie again: Superman, Batman and Spider-man. This movie looks like it's trying to reinvent the origin with a lot of unnecessary drama and intrigue. That's a waste of everyone's time, makes it feel like they think they have to make Spider-man interesting.

I see that they're trying to add new threads by going into Peter Parker's parents but it all just seems so old hat to me, and so soon after the last one. At least with the Batman reboot it was more about the whole journey than just a quick explain of why he's batty, but this just looks like telling the same story again with a blond chick and an updated lab setting.

But I do like the quashing of Kiersten Dunst's idea that nobody wants to watch Spiderman without MJ (herself) in it.

The one possible upside (in my opinion) for this reboot is that they may do the Gwen Stacy story the justice is deserves.

I don't particularly need another origin story, but the one thing I do like is hopefully getting another crack at the Green Goblin in a sequel. I liked Raimi's films, but I've always been a little unhappy with how they handled the Goblin. You've got Dafoe, a man that has a face like a goblin, but you put a giant metal helmet on him? What a missed opportunity.

I'm not sure there is any way to make pumpkin bombs cool in a live action movie
