Prequels are real dangerous territory, but the trailer does look good. Did I hear Carpenter's theme at the end?
It doesn't hurt to have Elizabeth Winstead in it, either...

That was Carpenter's music at the end. I'm massively stoked for this one.

I have high hopes. Carpenter was raped on that terrible remake of Halloween...hopefully this attempt to revive his work (which was a remake, also) gets better treatment.

this "prequel" looks pretty much like a remake to me, right down to the flamethrower (why do scientists in Antarctica have so many guns and flamethrowers??). The only thing missing is Kurt Russell's awesome hat.

The flamethrowers are for defrosting machinery in the most inefficient and coolest way possible. The guns are for when billiards, re-runs of the same five episodes of Let's Make a Deal, and cheating 8-bit computer chess don't hold the same interest they did back in day 1. More seriously, I wonder if the outpost served a duel role with the military. In the original, the whole story was a military based scenario.

I loved in the carpenter version when the doctor is plugging stats into the apple II or whatever it was and it starts giving him projections of worldwide distribution. I remember thinking: what program is that exactly? Computers can do anything!!

I remember thinking: what program is that exactly? Computers can do anything!! Yeah, I think that was Carpenter taking a bit from Alien. I guess it is more believable than having the diabetes guy just pull it out his wazoo.
