It's good that you didn't use my audio for this episode, it was just me yelling "I'm here! I can hear you!" then swearing a lot and blaming Ben for no reason. It sounds good without me. I like the new Doctor Who, Matt Smith. I know I've professed my undying love for him to Sean before, but I really think he's an engaging person and I love watching him. He's not David Tennant to be sure but he has to be his own doctor, everyone is always going to have their favourites. My biggest complaint is that the sonic screwdriver has expanded its usefulness from something that could open doors whenever the doctor got caught by someone to a device that can pretty much do anything from diagnose illness to hacking into computers just by waving it and lighting up. Now he pulls it out every five seconds to wave it at things and it beeps and he acts like he's had a long computer readout about the thing. Screwdrivers, now including pokedex!

They do still occasionally have the gag where he breaks it out in a fight and someone points out that it's just a screwdriver. I find the new Doctor charming, as I have found that I've embraced all new Doctors after a brief period of resistance. It's the enduring charm of the character that he can evolve and we can learn to love him in each new incarnation of that evolution. Beyond that I think I said everything I had to say on the subject of the new Doctor, but all in all I'm a fan.

I just saw that comic on facebook, it's very amusing and a concise wrap-up of the two doctors. Fez are cool.

Cool episode. Shame the Lynn dropped out, I'd have liked to hear her input. Maybe we should start to petition for a new transpacific skype cable.

I'm sure the TVAMD vote will get the ball rolling.

I saw Thor. I thought it was awesome! Ben was especially pleased at the return of the buff, macho-looking hero. Someone he personally can relate to. Also we're very pleased to see yet another Aussie superhero. Just so you know all Aussie men have chests like that, for proof see 300 (David Wenham) True Blood's "Stackhouse" Ryan Kwanten And finally Conan, who I've already been talking about on this forum, who is in Game of Thrones and the upcoming Hobbit movie; Also awesome; having the cinema to yourself except for the one dodgy-looking guy in the back row. We ignored him. But also upcoming trailer we saw was The Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Looks like WETA is putting the Kong experience to positive use; those monkeys looked superb.

What about Rick Baker, WETA? You're taking food out of his mouth.

I don't know, looking at those monkeys and their little cg faces I might be ready to root for cg now over prosthesis. They looked amazing.

For what they're doing I think the CG is fine, but when they start talking and wearing pants I say go back to men in monkey suits. The makeup in the Planet of the Apes remake was amazing.

Have you seen the Tintin trailer? There are some cases where I think cg really isn't necessary. Making people for one. I am torn about the monkey suits, I didn't see the Planet of the Apes remake and I am enamoured with these new cg monkeys, but I am against cg on principal for this sort of thing.

There is no shame in CGI. One day all things will be computer-generated. Something made man and he is a computer. Man made the computer. And one day man will will be made by the computer. There is a beautiful symmetry in that which we should embrace.

And that day we shall embrace the uncanny valley and love with cold dead eyes.
