Ok that last shot is just stupid. Acupuncture for the most part is not painful and the needles are less than the width of a hair. I'm pretty sure that rolling over onto them is not going to kill you.

It would probably just bend or break the needles and may cause mild discomfort. But the movie isn't Final Mild Discomfort.

Maybe that would be the first scene in the movie. Then you can have the character slowly dies of infection of the wounds throughout the film.
Or not.
Even is it is some sort of misdirection, the film makers are treating their audience as if they are idiots.

And after all the imaginative deaths "falling off a table" probably isn't going to be right up there with our favourites. It wasn't even done in that interesting a fashion; he just suddenly screams and falls off. What happened, the table grew unhappy with his presence and bucked him off? Why can't the table just grow teeth and eat him? I'd watch that movie...

I like how Tony Todd is back as the creepy coroner guy. They should just kill him and see what that does. This series is like scream; it exhausted the idea by the end of the first film. I like the elaborate death scenes because this is one of the few horror franchises that celebrates mindless gores. It's one of the only horror franchises at all, really, you almost never see a series make it to 5. I think they should just embrace it and do what all great franchises do: Make one of these movies in outer space.
Or maybe they could to a Freddy vs. Jason vs. Death crossover. I'd pay money to see Freddy, Jason and Chucky all living in an apartment trying not to succumb to horrible accidents. They've all cheated death on numerous occasions. Jason could trip on a wet floor sign and fall on his own machete, Freddy could swat a mosquito and put his eyes out with his finger knives, and Chucky could accidentally flush himself down the toilet. You could also bring Ash into it if you wanted, but he's already being constantly stalked by death and self dismemberment so you might not notice the difference.

I do like Tony Todd, he adds a bit of creepy to an otherwise just humorous movie. You have to have some baddie-looking dude, it's just weird to only be stalked by invisible death. He's so awesome. I do think they should involve him more, he can be in crossover commenting on the deaths.
