So let me get this straight; we're only going to approve this Conan if some form of animal assault, sexual or physical, occurs during the movie? Preferably bestiality on a camel?

Don't put words in my mouth, now.
Seriously, though...yeah, that's probably about right.

I don't know, he's a little too "pretty" for me. Maybe too young. Doesn't look like he's been through a lot of battles. I think the biggest problem I have with the performance (as we've seen it so far) is the accent. It sounds very american and a little too slight to be a savage barbarian. "How many names do I need?" sounds a little jokey to me. I never pictured Conan as having any kind of humor at all. Ahnuld did a great job of it because he sounded like he was from a far off land, and he definitely looked scary.

Arnold aside, Conan in the stories is actually very articulate and well spoken. You could do him with a british accent if you wanted. He was much more literate in the stories than the movie.
And just for the record, the first time you will admit someone is pretty, it's a guy. Is it the eye makeup? Does it make him look cheap?

I am more excited about Tarem Singh's new movie.

I don't mean Mila Kunis pretty, I mean more of a "he looks like he came from Venice Beach and not from a slew of gory battles" kind of pretty. Throw some scars on there with the eyeliner. He's never been wounded? Really? Ever?

First of all, you don't owe me any explanations. So you like pretty men, that's fine...
Second, maybe Conan hasn't ever been injured. He is the greatest badass of all time. If it follows the stories, this might actually be a younger Conan. This dude looks kind of like the leaner Barry Smith Conan from the original comic.

Maybe he was careful with his pretty face Brooks, wouldn't you be?

Maybe he was careful with his pretty face Brooks, wouldn't you be? I suppose if I had a pretty face I would be. I dearly hope they work in some of the language from the orig movie (which may have been from the novels, have to consult gilberto about that). "The lamentation of the women"... classic.

I don't know, I think my husband will be upset if they don't have that line in there.

I hope they focus more on the stories (he was a pulp serial character, so they were mostly short stories) and possibly the original comic which worked so hard to capture the spirit of the stories. I love the original movie, but I hope they aren't focusing on it as source material. Conan was awesome way before Arnold came along.
And what are the chances of getting some Red Sonya in on this? Maybe in the sequel?

I thought it was Sonja?
The conan movie definitely looks gory enough, no worries there. We'll just have to see if this guy has the charisma to pull it off. I would prefer a british accent though.
On the upside, the bad guys look pretty cool!

It is Sonja, wise guy.
It's funny how Americans accept any accent besides their own as classical and otherworldly. A British accent would be as apropos to Hyboria as a Georgia hillbilly twang. Or an Austrian accent, for that matter.
The guy was pretty captivating in Game of Thrones, considering he hardly said a word in English. I think he'll be good. I just want the movie to be distinctly Conan and not a generic sword and sorcery movie. The stories and the comic (and to a lesser degree the original movie) had certain elements and themes that made him more than just a sword-swinging wild man.

I think they have to do the source material instead of the Arnold movie, because it's a total classic and really genre-defining. They can't copy it, it would just be lame. They can do callbacks but they really need to just do their own thing to be at all good. I like Conan, I like the look of the film, it looks fantasy but it looks like it's taking itself seriously, which cheers me. I have faith, I think it will be good.

I'm encouraged because the trailer had one of my favorite lines from the stories in it. And it obviously pays homage to the original film too, so that would be the best of both worlds.
