The release of this segment is in no way a promise to release subsequent episodes in a timely fashion. This story is themed around Christmas, having taken place at Christmastime, so I'll try to have to have all the episodes out by next Christmas. Fair enough?

Well, it's a start, that's a good thing. I like how your Christmas video features the burning of a tree, symbolic, very nice. And a cute little Christmas dog. I was wondering why Greg had so much luggage, I thought he was coming to stay for Christmas, then he pulls out the fancy doo-dad camera that you're obviously not using at all. Nice.

More doodad footage coming. The digital video is more annoying because I have to capture the footage into the PC. The flip cams hook up USB and are easier to work with. Plus the fancy doodad footage on the Guidestones video was almost worthless because the camera lens was so dirty. Another problem you don't get with the flip cams.
We had 3 cameras on this shoot and turned out hours of footage, which is one of the reasons I've shied away from the editing. But now I'm committed, so it's happening.

Stretching it out into parts and putting some production into it is a lot more than I expected. The narrative is ominous but sets a lighthearted mood at the same time. The burning tree is both shocking and delightful. The story begins so cheerfully and bright with the holiday setting in the middle of the day and then all of a sudden it's night and the tree's going up in flames and I feel like I'm watching home movie highlights with the Grinch who stole Christmas. The cartoon bit I've seen before and I don't think it fits thematically but people who've never seen it might appreciate the laughs. Then there's that hint of danger with the ladder scene and the attic is cramped and dark. What a roller coaster. It's like watching a show that's equal parts Ghost Hunters and American Pickers and Robot Chicken. Fantastic. The wait is truly paying off.

These are the fun ones, but they take more time. My storytelling style is so stream of consciousness that I'm not sure what I'm ever talking about, but somehow this tonal confusion is very indicative of how I really feel about the holidays. There's all this abstract appreciation for the spirit of it, but in reality it tends to be a disappointment.
What's funny is that animated segment was always intended to be a part of this project, but I released it early because I didn't want to wait. Now it seems out of place.
I'm looking forward to diving into this one. I think it's going to be an entertaining yet unintelligible mumblecore masterpiece that's only remotely accessible to the TVAMD core listenership.

You know if you wanted your videos to be popular you'd just put in some cats, cats are all over the internet and by far the most popular thing there... apart from the cat porn of course. The little doggie is good though...

You caught me. I'm actually modeling this piece on the Star Wars Holiday Special. I've already got the animated segment. Now all I need is a musical number by Jefferson Starship.
