I watched this. If you haven't heard the idea I won't divulge, but as a horror film for me it was up and down. The baddie was terribly funny and creepy, had me laughing. But the rest of the film was just a patched together box of horror film cliches, stupid American girls, a Japanese guy, a mad scientist, stupid policemen, loads of yukky bodily fluids, lame ending. Poor dialogue and acting, except by the mad scientist, but everyone else is annoying. So a mish mash. I don't know that I enjoyed it, overall, but I definately enjoyed bits of it.

It's worth watching for the absurdity of the idea, but not a lot happens. The plot reveal is worth the wait though. And what's not to like about Dieter Laser?

Gilbert is in love with this one scene where the doctor unveils his nefarious plan. I like the bit at the end of that scene where the girl tries to run away and he just asks her "are you mad?" Yes sir, I am mad, crazy old me for not wanting to be attached to someone else's anus. That being said, it's a tour de force performance by Dieter, I'll take nothing from him. Apparently he ad-libbed a lot, so he probably came up with most of the funny lines by humself too. What would have been funnier would have been the casting sessions where the director called in actresses and showed them the little diagram of what would be happening to them in the movie. I'd have loved to see their faces. Actually the best bit of acting that the girl does is during the making-of where Dieter promises not to touch her titties and she says she trusts him.

That makes her perfect for the part. "Yes, Dieter, you seem like a perfectly normal and harmless dude". I just like how as punishment for trying to escape, he makes her be the # 2 position. 2 gets it on both ends, that's lose-lose...

I've been meaning to watch this one. It's up there with "mansquito" as something that demands to be seen.

I've been meaning to watch this one. It's up there with "mansquito" as something that demands to be seen. You're right about that. I went past it at the video shop a heap of times before I got it, and I thought about it each time and thought, hmm, not tonight, I'm cooking spaghetti bolognaise, but I still could never really put the thought of watching it out of my head.

Slightly OT, but you know what's wierd? There are no video stores left where I live. Blockbuster, Hollywood, all of them gone. There's tons of those redbox machines but not a single video store. It happened so quietly I barely noticed, but now it occurs to me that its the end of an era...

I'll miss the video store. How are we supposed to keep up with the new crappy movies coming out now? The ones that aren't remakes of the old crappy movies, I mean.
