www.geekology.co.za/blog/2010/01/first-wheel-of-time-movie-possibly-released-in-2011/I don't know if any of you have read the books, it's a huge series. I'm quite a fan. The Wheel of Time is quite wellknown in the more nerdy environment I sometimes roam on internet and among friends, but to make the entire series into a quality movie would be impossible. 14 enormous books when it is finished. Maybe a mini-series, but my fear is it will be as bad as the Dune mini-series.

Oh boy. That's a pretty ambitious project! No real way to plan an end-game for something like that, either. I can foresee another Golden Compass debacle.
I'm also a fan of miniseries or even a regular series for this kind of thing (eagerly anticipating HBO's Game of Thrones.) For one thing, the investment seems less risky for the production company. And b) it's hard to imagine doing justice something this detailed in 90-120 minutes. Even though there's plenty of padding for the trimming, it's hard to imagine script writers doing it coherently.
Regardless, they should focus on making a commercially-viable movie with a story that makes sense to the average fantasy fan, rather than trying to please the fans of the book series. Cuz we all know how THAT turns out.

Don't choose M. Night for the movie. Oh and also, a Wheel of Time movie by 2011 when they have no other details about it seems a little ambitious.
