Looks like Del Toro did the screenplay too. Looks like a pretty standard Haunted House but done well.

Just an FYI, it is a remake of a 70's made for TV movie. It is a haunted house, but not by ghosts. The house is haunted by these little creatures that live in the dark. I remember watching the original when I was seven or eight years old and it really scared the hell out of me.
One big difference between the two that is evident in the trailer is the little girl character. In the original, the creatures are after the wife character. I'm guessing that del Toro is using the child protagonist to symbolize his childhood fears from when he watched it (he would have been about nine when it first came out).
I am very excited that this one is around the corner.

It's good to see a little girl who isn't doing the haunting herself. I tried to download the 70s TV movie and I couldn't find it. Also Hello Guy Pierce where have you been?

Here is a truncated taste of it. I'll see if I can find a copy elsewhere that you can watch.

Embedding disabled? YouTube sucks sometimes. I would like to see the original (seems familiar to me). The new one looks cool but I fear a heavy use of CG.
